The Gaming Commission (GC) was established by the Gambling Act of 7 May 1999. The GC is the official regulator of the gambling sector. The GC's main task is to ensure channelling to legal gambling, with the primary aim of protecting players. To carry out that commandthe GC provides advice to the Government and Parliament on all matters related to the law of 7 May 1999 on games of chance, betting, gaming establishments and the protection of players;the GC grants the licenses necessary for the operation of games of chance and betting and ensures proactive management;the GC has a monitoring function with regard to compliance with the provisions of the Gambling Act and has the power to impose sanctions (warning, suspension or license revocation), including administrative fines.
